Every now and then… well almost daily now there is a new story about some incredible 3D printing engineering feat. Today we have Nerabike!
NowLab has developed what is believed to be the worlds first fully 3D printed and functional electric motorcycle. What I find most incredible is the number of parts required to get this 3D printed super motorcycle on the road… fifteen, excluding all of the electric components. Even the airless tires/wheels are 3D printed!
“The NERA combines several innovations developed by NOWLAB, such as the airless tire, functional integration and embedded sensor technology” explains Daniel Büning, Co-founder and Managing Director of NOWLAB. “This bike and our other prototypes push the limits of engineering creativity and will reshape AM technology as we know it.”
BigRep creates some of the worlds largest scale 3D printers. Establishing new industry benchmarks for large-scale 3D printing, speed and reliability.
For the most part, I believe this bike was mainly a test in design engineering and 3D printing so we will not be seeing these produced and sold anytime soon. None the less, it is still very impressive.
